Tiberias is a popular tourist town, so unsurprisingly there are plenty of bars, cafes and restaurants to cater to visitors, located both along the water front and in the town.
Late night drinking spots
On summer nights brightly lit ‘disco’ boats set out on nighttime cruises, perfect for those who enjoy a lively night out. Organized by the Kinneret Sailing Company, the boats leave from the Lido Kinneret Beach. They not only provide an opportunity for dancing for late night revelers, the cruises offer the only way for them to gain beach access.
Good places to enjoy an after hour’s drink accompanied by live music include the Leonardo Plaza and the Jordan River hotels which are found towards the southern end of the Old City. Big Ben, another bar, is located at the Pedestrian Mall and is an establishment that has a more traditional ‘pub’ feel to it, as well as an outside terrace. The bar tends to attract British expats and features a more mature crowd. Along with a selection of draught beers and spirits, the pub serves traditional Israeli food including hummus and kebabs.
The Choco Bar is located at the edge of the wharf, and is known for playing the loudest music, while attracting a young crowd. The bar plays hip hop until 3am. The Unique Bar on HaYarden St. has a theme and an outdoor terrace that shows soccer on a giant screen along with lively popular music.
The Bora Bora Beach Bar is located to the west of Tiberias, on the Sea of Galilee. Located in a natural beauty spot, the bar hosts numerous events including beach parties, and features an in-house chef. In high season the bar is open late on Friday nights with a resident DJ. Another bar with a tropical appeal is the Papaya, located at the intersection of the Waterfront Promenade and the Pedestrian Mall, open from 5pm until 4 am.
