Get the Most Out of Shopping In Jerusalem

Everybody knows that Jerusalem is home to some of the most spectacular, not to mention religiously significant, sites in the Middle East. But not everybody knows that Jerusalem is actually a hub of shopping goodness. If you're planning on shopping in Jerusalem, here are 10 places not to be missed.

1. Mahane Yehuda Market

One of the most colorful and lively destinations in all of Jerusalem, the Mahane Yehuda Market features countless stalls selling fruit, vegetables, food, clothing, and much more. The market is mostly covered which offers respite from the beating sun at the height of summer.

2. Mamilla Mall

Another of Jerusalem’s emerging shopping malls, come here for galleries, boutiques, cafés, and more. This is the place to be if you’re on the hunt for designer clothes and handbags.

3. Muslim Shuk (located in the Old City)

Situated in the Muslim Quarter of the Old City of Jerusalem[SA1] , this shuk (market/bazaar) is bustling with activity, noise, color, and plenty of bargains. Whether you’re looking for nuts and spices, antiques and ceramics, or clothes and textiles, you’ll find plenty on offer here.

4. Nahalat Binyamin Craft Market

Held on Tuesdays and Fridays, this open air market houses an abundance of unique and impressive arts and crafts. From textiles to pottery, you’ll find the perfect gift here.

5. Malha Mall

Located in the Jerusalem suburbs, Malha Mall – sometimes referred to as Jerusalem Mall – is an American-style shopping mall that’s home to over 200 stores, restaurants, and eateries.

6. Baltinesta Brothers

For beautiful jewelry and Judaica (Jewish ceremonial art) visit Baltinesta Brothers on Jaffa Street. You’ll find a fine collection of pieces, each more beautiful than the next.

7. Dorin Frankfurt

It may not be held in as high regard as London, Paris, and Milan, but Jerusalem is no slouch in the world of designer clothing. Visit Dorin Frankfurt in Mamila Mall to see the work of one of Israel’s most decorated designers.

8. First Station

Serving almost as a crossroad between the Old City of Jerusalem and the city’s modern neighborhoods, First Station – which is housed in an old train station – offers a number of shops and markets for visitors to enjoy. It also offers a wealth of cultural events as well as restaurants, cafés, and other eateries.

9. Chutzot Hayotzer

The Chutzot Hayotzer Artist’s Colony is the place to go to find artists exhibiting and selling their work. From paintings and prints to pottery and jewelry, you’re bound to find all kinds of hidden gems in this part of the city. Visit in August and you’ll find the colony hosting its International Arts Festival.

10. Ben Yehuda Street
