Top Attractions in Eilat

Located on Israel’s short Red Sea coast, the town of Eilat is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the country. While much of Israel’s tourism industry is built up on historic and religious sites, Eilat is a whole different story. These are 10 highlights in Eilat that you just won't want to miss.

1. Coral World Underwater Observatory

25 large tanks exhibit a wide selection of marine life, including fish, invertebrates, and coral, which visitors can observe. The crown jewel here though is the large underwater observatory that offers views of the local marine life.

2. Dolphin Reef

Ever wanted to swim with dolphins? Well, Dolphin Reef offers you the chance to do exactly that.

3. International Birdwatching Center

Birdwatching might not sound like the most exciting activity but the sight of a flock of flamingoes passing over or raptors patrolling the sky make this an activity you won’t want to miss.

4. Coral Beach Nature Reserve

One of the best places in the world to go diving, the coral on display here, alongside the other marine life, is one of the biggest draws in the region. The reserve is also an interesting destination for non-divers.

5. Kings City Amusement Park

A family-friendly theme park based around the stories of the Bible, this is one of the best aimed attractions in Eilat at children.

6. Camel tours

The Red Canyon and surrounding deserts make for an ideal destination to enjoy a hike but if you want to see the region in style, hop on the back of a camel and start exploring.

7. 4x4 tours

If camels seem a little too, well, tame for you, why not jump in a 4x4 and motor your way around the Negev Desert. Guided tours as well self-drive tours are available to enjoy.

8. Tinma Valley Park

The geologically-minded and curious will get a kick out of a trip to Timna Valley Park, located 30km north of Eilat. The site houses a number of copper mines and some incredible natural rock formations, including the awe-inspiring King Solomon’s Pillars.

9. Boating trips

The Red Sea makes for a scenic backdrop for boating trips. Take a tour of the local region and witness some stunning sights. If you can arrange a visa, extend your tour into neighboring Egypt.

10. Beach life

While excitement and exhilaration are top of the agenda in Eilat, it’s worth remembering that this is the perfect destination to unwind. The town features beautiful beaches, warm waters, and perfect weather, which makes beach life here just about as relaxing as you can imagine. The beaches at Dolphin Reach and Coral Beach are largely considered to be the most scenic, while North Beach is the destination for visitors looking for watersports and excitement.
